A commercial sailing ship is at her berth, stern to, in the upper righthand corner. This is a replica of the 170-foot
'Friendship' that operated on the famous East India route in the late 1700s. The original 'Friendship' was built in Salem, MA, about 20 miles south of Gloucester. "She travelled the world trading for exotic spices, sugar and coffee, making voyages to China, Java, Sumatra, Madras, London, Hamburg, St.Petersburg, and other European ports."
